51³Ô¹ÏÍø employees can register online for the following Fall workshop, "Supporting the Highlander Community: Understanding Sexual Misconduct and Trauma-Informed Practices," held the following dates:

  • Tuesday, September 30 from 10:00am - 11:15am 
  • Thursday, October 9 from 12:00pm - 1:15pm

Supporting the Highlander Community: Understanding Sexual Misconduct and Trauma-Informed Practices
This workshop reviews current federal and state requirements including Title IX and explores the impact of campus sexual misconduct, trauma-informed practices, reporting options, and how to navigate difficult conversations with students and colleagues. This workshop is interactive and involves practicing how we listen to and respond to challenging situations and where to refer. 

Overview of Workshops and Training

Title IX and the Office of Prevention and Advocacy collaborate annually to offer in-person training for student groups, departments, committees and employees denoted as "mandatory reporters."  Examples of our programs include:

  • 1.0 Navigating Campus Sexual Violence: Title IX and Prevention Work
    • This introductory workshop explores the impacts of campus sexual violence, trauma-informed care, where to report, and the importance of prevention work. Through this workshop, participants will gain knowledge and introspection on subjects such as power and control, the Title IX process, the socio-ecological model of prevention, and the application of trauma-informed care in their work.
  • 2.0 Putting It Into Practice (skill-based training workshop)
    • This workshop will dive deeply into how to effectively address difficult conversations through practical application, trauma-informed care, and role-play. This workshop is interactive and involves practicing how we listen to and respond to challenging situations and ultimately where to refer. Completion of 1.0 is not required prior to attending this workshop.
  • The Highlander Playbook: Healthy Relationships and Bystander Intervention
    • Interactive workshop presented to all new students during NSO 2.0 that discusses consent and boundaries, healthy relationships and bystander intervention. 
  • Bystander Intervention: Highlanders Speak Out
    • ​This workshop is presented to students to educate them on recognizing problematic situations and equipping them with the skills to be an active bystander.

Required Campuswide Training 

All new students and employees are required to complete online training provided by Vector Solutions addressing topics including sexual harassment, Title IX, consent, bystander intervention and other related topics upon their entry to 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.  Students who fail to complete their required training will have a hold placed on their student account, preventing them from registering for the upcoming semester.

Title IX Personnel Training

51³Ô¹ÏÍø's Title IX personnel must receive training to ensure competency and compliance with the requirements under Title IX.  This includes the Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator, investigators, hearing officers, appeals officers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process

The Title IX regulations (34 C.F.R. part 106) require institutions to make publicly available information on trainings Title IX personnel receive starting August 14, 2020. A list of trainings attended by these individuals following August 14, 2020 is available below and includes the materials used in the training, which are provided for public review.
